“The Brick” Dining Hall at Deerfield Academy
Eustis Chair collaborated with ARC to furnish “The Brick,” the dining hall addition and renovation at Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Massachusetts. The project included 924 custom Deerfield Stacking Chairs crafted from solid cherry. The result is a welcoming dining space where custom craftsmanship, lasting durability, and thoughtful design come together to support the daily life of the Deerfield Academy community.
The Design Vision
The Brick was envisioned as more than a dining hall. It was designed to be a central gathering place where students, faculty, and visitors could connect throughout the day. The space needed to respect Deerfield Academy’s historic campus while providing the functionality required of a modern educational facility.
Working with ARC, the project called for seating that would complement the architecture, provide lasting comfort and durability, and offer the flexibility needed for a busy dining environment.
The Eustis Chair Solution
Eustis Chair partnered with ARC to create a custom seating solution tailored to the project’s unique design and performance requirements. The result was the Deerfield Stacking Chair, designed to complement the dining hall’s architecture while delivering exceptional durability for a high-traffic educational environment.
Crafted from solid cherry hardwood, these 924 custom chairs were built to serve Deerfield Academy for generations to come.
Custom Features
The Deerfield Stacking Chair was developed specifically for this project, drawing inspiration from Eustis Chair’s Millbrook Chair while incorporating design modifications to complement the architecture and vision for The Brick.
