ICAA Stanford White Award

2020 Institute of Classical Architecture and Art’s (ICAA) Stanford White Award

Each year the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art’s (ICAA) celebrates accomplishments in urbanism, interiors, landscape, architecture, and building craftsmanship & artisanship throughout New York, New Jersey, and Fairfield County, Connecticut. This prestigious honor is known as the Stanford White Award for Excellence in Classical and New Traditional Design. Stanford White lived from 1853-1906. He was a well-known American architect. He worked at the New York firm called McKim, Mead & White. White designed the triumphal arch at Washington Square. He also designed the second Madison Square Garden, the Cable Building, and other well known landmarks of the time. Of course, White left quite the creative architectural legacy that inspired many generations after his time.

Abbott Dining Hall

The Lawrenceville School is located in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. In 2018 The Lawrenceville School was ready for a re-design of their Abbott Dining Hall. They hired Voith & Mactavish Architects. Eustis Chair was honored to work with VMA to design over 300 custom Eustis Chairs for the Abbott Dining Hall project. Read more about Abbott Dining Hall’s transformation here.

On December 9, 2020, the Philadelphia-based firm was honored with a design award for the Abbott Dining Hall facility. The 2020 Institute of Classical Architecture and Art’s (ICAA) Stanford White Award in the category of Commercial, Civic, and Institutional Architecture goes to… Drumroll please… Voith & Mactavish.

“We are deeply honored, along with our partners at Voith & Mactavish, to receive this award. A lot of thought went into what would not only make this building beautiful, but also what would make it Lawrenceville, One of the ways we preserve and transmit culture at Lawrenceville has been through the dining experience, breaking bread together, and Abbott provides a spectacular setting in which that can happen.” -Steve Murray, Head of School.
