The Merrimac chair is a slight design variation on the Bainbridge Jr. chair, requested by Massachusetts architects Thomas Amsler and Mashek MacLean. We named this chair for the Merrimac Public Library, its first home. The top back of the chair and the tops of the back posts are curved instead of square. This seemingly minor change has a significant effect on the overall look of the chair, which is now as much Transitional as it is Arts & Crafts.
We are often able to make minor design changes like this with no additional cost to the client; this helps create a library or function room that is not only elegant, but also unique.
