The Merrimac

Traditional Arts and Crafts Chairs

The Merrimac chair is a slight design variation on the Bainbridge Jr. chair. It was originally requested by Massachusetts architects Thomas Amsler and Mashek MacLean for an exciting new project. We named this chair for the Merrimac Public Library, it’s first home. This is one of our most popular library chair. Moreover, it is extremely sleek and sturdy. In fact, we designed this chair specifically for high use spaces to withstand daily wear and tear of high turnover spaces. The top back of the chair and the tops of the back posts are curved instead of square. This seemingly minor change has a significant effect on the overall look of the chair, which is now as much Transitional as it is Arts & Crafts.

We are often able to make minor design changes like this with no additional cost to the client; this helps create a library or function room that is not only elegant, but also unique. Any and all of our chairs are available in any hardwood species, stain, arm or side, and choice of upholstery.

Please reach out with any questions regarding any of our chairs. We are always happy to help in any way we can!
