This chair is an adaptation of the styles of Wright, Greene and Stickley from the Arts & Crafts movement of the early 1900s. True to that period, the box-frame design and mortise and tenon construction combine to produce an elegant chair that is durable enough to withstand decades of rigorous use. The original Fairfield chair is built of red oak, but it can be made in other hardwoods. Like most of our chairs, the Fairfield is also available with a cushioned seat.
The Fairfield chair is one of our more unique library and classroom chairs with slightly curved back slats, done for both aesthetic and comfort. The bottom stretchers harken back to traditional chair designs, making it superficially indistinguishable from the classrooms of old. Of course, our modern joinery makes the difference: expect the Fairfield to last throughout the years.
